About the Trust
The Birkenhead Licensing Trust was established in 1967 to operate on and off licences for the sale of alcohol in the old Birkenhead Borough Council area. The Trust currently owns two bars: The Good Home in Birkenhead and the Inn Field in Glenfield.
The profits from these two bars and the net proceeds from the Lion Foundation gaming machines located in each bar and the Wairau Sports Bar, are distributed each year to community groups in the Trust’s local area. In 2023 the Trust distributed approximately $1,800,000 to groups in the Birkdale, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Glenfield and Northcote.

One of our two venues, the Inn Field is a sports bar in the heart of Glenfield.
Our Team
The Trust has six elected trustees. The trustees are elected from and by the local community every 3 years. These elections are held at the same time as the Auckland Council local body elections. The trustee’s role is to oversee the businesses and to consider and approve grants to local community groups.
